Picking the Pieces Up of an Audiobook Mess!

Soooo….my book is about recovering from devastation..the unexpected…when the pieces around you all fall and you don’t know where to begin to pick them up. How appropriate right now for me when I was TRYING to (unsuccessfully) to promote my audiobook- well, KEEP READING!

Two nights ago, I began a large marketing effort to promote my Amazon kindle/paperback to an audiobook on Audible. It was a good part of a YEAR in the making. Between auditioning narrators, going back and forth through the right sound and feel, handling contracts, I finally dotted all the i’s and crossed the t’s and it was finally ready to be released on Audible and iTunes in the mid Fall! Yay!

Then LIFE happened – as many of you can understand.

And my big launch didn’t happen as planned and lots of work and personal projects took immediate precedence and a launch had to wait. And I had some self-doubt. So I waited some more. Then some more discouragement happened. And again I waited some more. Until I realized THAT got me nowhere FAST. And that THAT isn’t what I’m about.

So, back to two nights ago. I have this GREAT offer to promote through Audible, where my readers can get this book – a book that can really help people – for FREE and a FREE trial of Audible PLUS some other goodies through the link I provide.

I blast it everywhere – even to other people I’ve worked with throughout the process to blast out as well. And I go to bed.

The next morning, I realize that my production company has the audio sample of not MY HIRED FEMALE NARRATOR but as a man’s voice promoting an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BOOK!

I looked like a jackass.

All that work. Down the drain. Who will take me seriously now?

It took a lot of phone calls – hours – and emails – and a few tears, if I’m being completely honest – to get this fixed. But I kept going.

It’s my hope that this echos the books sentiment.

It’s never over. NEVER. And I hope the people that get this offer and get this audiobook and support me and my cause – get that very message – it’s NEVER too late to keep going.
